Too Clean For Me ft Marty (prod. Downtown Music)

Girls fall in love with us every summer...

Sometimes we fall in love with them as well...

Too Clean For Me

[Pardon my absence. Everyone's been acting strange as hell as Firefly gets closer. I had to fall back to get my business in order and shake the leeches.]

"Summer is coming, know you can feel it"

It's starting to look like summer out here. The women are getting badder and my shit talk is A1. It was only right to match "Love The Universe" with the vibe of the summer. Love The Universe is gonna be the soundtrack you listen to with your gf and your side chic. Love The Universe is gonna be what you listen to on the way to Dewey for the next few months.

I really just want every pretty girl to pre-order "Love The Universe" - Mic Anthony

I'm not new to this

There's this misconception that I'm on the local come up. NAW. I've been out here since 07. We were out here off rip. Me and Erich were the only Caesar Rodney rappers in the class of 09. We went to the biggest high school in the state by the way... We were literally performing in college shows in high school while you were experimenting with hard drugs. The Mattress has more downloads than your last mixtape. The Mattress dropped before Drake's first album dropped... I don't want to say I'm better than most rappers in Delaware. But I'm definitely ahead... by a lot

Half the women say I'm humble... The other half say I'm cocky... Most of them text me

I can't stress to you guys enough on how cold I am. It seems like only the closest to me get to see the coldness. I don't need love. I need results. Everyone wants shit but haven't done shit. Why am I the only one that doesn't miss people? How sick am I? And does that make me a bad person? I feel real good right about now. In less than a month Cypher Clique makes history...

Welcome to the Spring

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo spring officially starts tomorrow and I decided to hit the good people with a blog. The very very very next blog will probably have a pre-order link for the next cypher clique project dropping mid-June (and free tank tops... We're givin' out free clothes all summer.)

[I wrote all of this on a note and left it on my mom's nightstand next to this baby picture.

I am the greatest student to ever graduate from a graduate research program at the university of Delaware.

I'm the first student to never buy a physical copy of a textbook during a graduate research program at the university of Delaware

I'm the swaggiest student in the history of graduate research at the university of Delaware.

I'm the first student to inexplicably move from Newark to Dewey Beach in the middle of a graduate research program at the university of Delaware,

I'm the only student to ever take the summer off and work for other graduate research programs during my time in a graduate research program at the university of Delaware.

I thought about Camden, NJ everyday as a graduate student at the university of Delaware.

I proved to every one on the coast that I know more Mathematics than anyone should be able to handle while at a graduate program at the university of Delaware.

I was the only former collegiate athlete in any of my graduate research classes at the university of Delaware.

I'm the waviest Graduate student in the history of the university of Delaware.

...

At the bottom of the note I wrote:]

Mom I love you,

But there's no way in hell I'm walking at another graduation

- Erich "

...

Welcome to the Spring...

The Knicks Tape ft Sam Delaghetto (prod. Tribe Beats)

My youth got me thinking I can make music forever

Download Now On Soundcloud

Part of growing up is realizing that not as many people love you as you originally thought. They might show you conditional love when it's beneficial but that's not real love. That's why self love is so necessary. They can call it narcissistic if they want but I'll never let myself down.

No Handout for the 2015No Excuses for the 2015No Mediocrity for the 2015

I haven't seen some of my oldest friends since last year... Don't feel offended if you don't see me as much. I swear any free time is spent with yall. But I'm working my ass off right now. Getting on FireFly is cool but the amount of expectations now increases. Everything has to be better. To get better you have to focus and think. It's hard to focus and think with drunk dudes and beautiful women around. Great for inspiration but terrible for brainstorming. I love (some) of yall

I can't stress it enough when I talk about Cypher Clique. We've never had a manager or booking agent. Everything we've ever accomplished was done by no one but us. S/o to the plugs but all the plugs went through us directly. There's no asshole getting 15% from us. It was all us. No matter if we were 17 or 23 we handled all of our music business internally.

My tape did over 2k in less than a week. So why is your tape under 100 downloads after a whole year?

"Watch how many people come out of nowhere and try to be by your side" - Jadakiss (2004)

I'm aware of the crabs in the bucket as well... I'm aware of the shade coming from people that live on a street called mediocrity. I just can't acknowledge it. There's too much going on elsewhere. There's not enough time to spare. We gotta get these tracks out. Slowing down to explain a process that's been running since 2007 would be a waste of time.

I've been touring the east coast with Cypher Clique for a half a decade. I performed in my first show before I had my first drink. We used to get dropped off at the studio because we were too young to drive. You new niggas start rapping because you got cut from the basketball team.

Time Is Your Biggest Enemy

Music is similar to sports in a few ways. In both music and sports there are people that are born with the gift and people that learn the skill. I'd say only 5% of people are born with the gift. The other 95% have to study the craft to get better. There's no way you discover your gift after the age of 18. That means it's more than likely a skill. If that's the case you started trying to enhance your skills dumb late in the game. If that's the case you should probably start focusing harder than the artists that started ten years ago to keep up.

Go to everyoneisdangerous.com asap like Rocky.

I hope everyone around me strives for excellence. There's no reason to be satisfied with anything else. If you're around me or in my camp this year you better keep up. Everyone has to kill shit. I'll have no problem cutting wack shit off this year. Work hard or talk shit.

Cypher Clique’s New Project “Everyone is Dangerous”; a review

Inside Look | Peep Delaware group Cypher Clique's New Project "Everyone is Dangerous"

written by Alex Bell
@ayybeeisme

There's a great deal to be said about the stars aligning when in pursuit of something great. That's what Dover, Delaware hip-hop squadron Cypher Clique has been grinding for since 2007, and with the release of their latest EP and short story package titled Everyone is Dangerous on February 4, it's clear to see that there's some constellations shifting into motion, and the Clique is on the precipice of something major. Oh, and did I mention that they're also fresh off  the heels of being the named as the first Delaware hip-hop act ever to perform at the first state's steady growing music festival, Firefly? With such a huge honor bestowed upon them coupled with the release of their latest project, the Clique realizes that their time is now, and none of that time can be spent half-steppin'.

"With Spring and Summer coming, we're switching into tour mode. We're in the process of booking a hefty amount of shows and expanding this year, and in turn hopefully reaching new markets," says Mic Anthony, the group's designated shit talker and one of the main contributors to the Clique's ever developing sound. With a multitude of shows and opportunities on the horizon, the DE group has got a lot to be excited about, but there's no denying that the first state's festival isn't just another notch on the Clique's belt --- one that includes opening for acts like Wale, A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, Meek Mill, and Action Bronson.
"It's historical. Hopefully the Firefly Festival continues on for the next fifty years so we can look back and say we were the first. Firefly is a great accomplishment, but there is still much more to be done," Mic admitted. As Anthony alludes to, being named to the east coast festival's  2015 lineup among the likes of Beatles front man Paul McCartney, OG west coast icon Snoop Dogg, Cleveland musician KiD CuDi, and EDM mastermind Steve Aoki is pivotal, but the booking isn't a certified validation that the Clique has "made it." Instead, it merely raises the bar for the collective, and with a long 2015 calendar year ahead of them, they're dialed in on what's necessary for them to progress to the next level. Keeping that in mind, their aforementioned project Everyone is Dangerous is surely a step in the right direction.

The project, which is actually a compilation of nine songs as well as a short, post-apocalyptic narrative written by Cypher Clique associate Erich, showcases what the group has been working on since they dropped their last joint "Greatest Show on Thirst" this past August. The EP does a thorough job in ushering its listeners into a musical environment that capitalizes on sounds and concepts that the Clique has perfected on projects prior, but a number of the tracks also wander into realms that could be categorized as experimental when you view the group's musical catalog as a whole.
"Rakim in 88," a joint produced by Clique member D-Major, is a prime example of the group doing what they do best, with all three members flipping the script over a boom bap beat that rips a sample from A Tribe Called Quest's canonical record "Bonita Applebum." As Mic staked claimed on the group's vlog in January, the track features Major's best verse to date, and Relay and Mic come through with a clinic on flowetry as well. Other tracks on the project that seem sonically familiar to the group's formula are "Her Phone Died," as well as Relay's word play wonder "Midnight Rush."
Since '05, ran game like ball courts
Money was the motive, wasn't into fall sports
Posted on the corner, more routes than Stallworth
--- Relay - "Her Phone Died"

---
While the aforementioned tracks came across as familiar territory for the Delaware trio, a number of other joints stuck out as well, and for good reason. Tracks like the EP's intro jam "Michael Sam Jersey Sales," "The Channel Davis Interlude," and "298 Trafalgar Drive," all bring forth sounds that are entirely new for the Clique, yet they're what give the EP the legs to travel outside the boundaries of conventionality. One of the most notable additions to the Clique's repertoire is that of member Mic Anthony singing, a tactic that he claims came up unconsciously.
"I honestly didn't realize how much I was singing on the project until we started doing the final track list. After we released Greatest Show on Thirst in August, we just kept making music. Everyone is Dangerous wasn't a project at all. It wasn't until December that we realized we had a whole new project on our hands. We had a group of loose tracks that came together cohesively over time. I guess it all happened naturally."
Whether intentional or not, Mic's singing is a welcome addition to the Clique's clip, as it allows them to branch out to a strand of hip-hop that's becoming increasingly popular thanks to figureheads like Yeezy, Drake, and Childish Gambino. On the song "The Channel Davis Interlude," Mic laments about a chick that he bagged back in the day, weaving through the Tribe Beats production with a chorus that's sure to barricade itself in your head after only a few listens.

I was chillin' wit a pretty twenty-somethin' that night, said she got a man that can't give pipe... Damn, I miss my hookah.
I was chillin' wit ya shorty in the backseat (backseat), called it quits, now she messin' with an athlete... Damn, I miss my hookah --- I need my hookah.
--- Mic Anthony - "The Channel Davis Interlude" ft. Frank Boy

The track also features verses from Relay and Cypher Clique frequent collaborator Frank Boy, and it's undoubtedly one of the EP's top tracks. In addition, "298 Trafaglar Drive," is another joint that features Mic mixing melodies and rhymes, a tactic that Mic says he will look to improve upon over the course of the next year.
" As an artist and as a group I just want to continue to get more experimental with the sound. I'm a fan of rappers that push the limits of the genre, so I definitely aspire to be one of those artists in time." As evidenced by the tracks mentioned above, Mic and his Cliquemates are progressing towards the next chapter of their musical journey as a unit, but thankfully with the assistance of some familiar faces. Tribe Beats, producer of former fire Clique jams "Good Money," as well as "I Feel Right," contributed three tracks on the project, and Erich, an artist on some of the Clique's earliest projects, appeared all over the EP as well. The combination of Tribe and Erich making appearances on the Clique's tracks is something that should be welcomed, as they further solidify the content that the group has found their footing on over the course of the past three years in particular.
"He enhances the swag of our group and he helps put the lifestyle I'm trying to portray into a better perspective that can be easily consumed and understood by our audience," says Mic of Erich. "The short stories were completely Erich's idea. He told me he was writing them so we decided to make it happen. No one else is doing it, so we definitely stand out."
As for Tribe, Mic acknowledged that the producer is his go to guy when the Clique is looking to tread in uncharted territory.
"When I record at Tribe's it's a whole different vibe. Everything is usually created from scratch. Sometimes we'll be locked in there for three days at time, with hundreds of bottles and different women coming through to inspire us," Mic added nonchalantly.
With Erich and Tribe teaming up with the Clique on this EP, that lifestyle that Mic mentioned is coming into a sharper focus with the track "Wake Up Now Money," and the EP's crowning achievement (according to ME), "Lit AF." Both tracks are produced by Tribe, and Mike's claims of swag are quite evident, especially on the latter. "Lit AF" begins as what sounds like a cuffing season anthem driven by soft piano strokes --- but quickly the listener is brought back to reality once Erich kicks off the vocals with a rather blunt "I'm petty and I'm rich as f--k." At it's core, "Lit AF" is a social commentary on the shallow relationships formed by members today's young generation, but on the surface its a banger that you're ears will beg you to continually revisit.

2014 is in the books, and with some major moves already being made in the new year, Cypher Clique is primed for big things over the course of the next 11 months. Everyone is Dangerous is valid proof that not only are the members of this Delaware collective getting better at the fundamentals that have delivered them to this point, but they're also navigating new territory for the first time, and with relative ease at that. All nine tracks on this EP render up points of interest, and it'll be interesting to see how the Clique continues to mold their sound and style with Summer and this year's Firefly Festival quickly approaching. Check out the Everyone is Dangerous EP at hotnewhiphop.com, give it a listen, and head back here to tell us what you think. Firefly Music Festival 2015

So the poster for The Fire Fly Music Festival just leaked onto the internet last night... Somewhere in between Paul McCartney, Snoop Dogg, Kid Cudi, Charlie XCX, and DJ Mustard you see Cypher Clique on the poster... The same Cypher Clique niggas that used to get slandered by future heroine addicts in high school. The same Cypher Clique niggas that lost average looking girlfriends because they decided to make music instead of seeing Twilight movies.

I've been on my shit since 2007. YOU NEVER HAD A REAL DREAM OR GOAL! YOU NEVER HAD A PASSION! YOU NEVER WILL! DON'T QUESTION THE LANE OF A VISIONARY! STICK TO BEING MEDIOCRE AND LET THE DREAMERS SCULPT THE FUTURE!

No matter how much you accomplish people are always going to downplay the accolades. I'll probably be the only person you ever know personally that performs at Fire Fly. I'm definitely the first. This is history. I hope to see you out there as I make history. You were gonna go out there and trip off random drugs anyways... You might as well witness history while you put chemicals in your body.

I hope you kids see the poster and get inspired. Over the past 6 years I've been doubted by everyone. But none of the people that doubted were ever factors in the music. Ryan Young has been addicted to adderall since we were 14 so his opinion on my music never mattered. Somewhere between graduation and the 100th house party most of you lost your the vision... I never expected the bitches to see my vision. I call them bitches because they never saw the ambition/potential of a young man working towards something daily. Instead they suck off unemployed drug dealers and AWOL army men.

TWO YEARS AGO DUSTIN TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEVER PERFORM AT FIREFLY... "FIRE FLY IS WAY TOO BIG OF AN EVENT FOR CYPHER CLIQUE TO GET ON THE BILL". I'M SLEEP BRUH. MOST OF YOU ARE JUST TOO SMALL MINDED TO EVER SEE THE REAL POSSIBILITIES.

5 years ago I drove to suburban Pennsylvania to perform in a show with this white kid named Mac Miller. I went by myself because my group members didn't want to take off from their part time jobs (they've gotten new part time jobs since then). I drove up to Pennsylvania by myself and performed in front of 3,000 people. SO WHY THE FUCK DOES ANYONE THINK THEIR OPINION MATTERS TO ME? If you've never been to a show your opinion matters about as much as black lives to white cops. I'm sleep on your whole existence.

Don't compare me to any other artists in this state. I've performed in the most hip-hop shows ever as far as Delaware artists goes. I never performed at Circles because I'm better than that. The only time I ever rapped in Milford is when I opened up for Diggy. I'll never perform at The Dover Urban Music Fest again. They didn't even have three mics for the most important hip-hop group in Delaware history. Google your name and then google "Cypher Clique". This local love is cool but there's a whole world to explore. I just live here.

If music ever felt like your side chic... I hope it never shows you love and you rot in a pool of mediocrity forever. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. While you were poppin acid and having sex with ugly people I was focused on a goal. My goal never changed. I NEVER FELL TO THE PRESSURES OF SOCIETY. I NEVER FELT LIKE I HAD TO JOIN THE MILITARY. I ALWAYS LOVED MUSIC MORE THAN YOU LOVE YOUR GIRLFRIEND. I ALWAYS LOVED MUSIC MORE THAN YOU LOVE YOUR LIFE.

In less than 5 years I managed to be on a festival with one of The Beatles... In less than 5 years you gave up on your dream and joined a government that hates black people.

Don't worry about me bro. Focus on your own problems. All of my problems are good problems. Like what am I going to wear on stage? Which one of my ten clothing sponsors should I give the honor of lacing me in new gear for my set? What am I going to say to Charlie XCX if we cross paths? I have a small squad of supporters/team players/dreamers/plugs. I'm sleep on most people I've met in the last 6 years. Yall came around because I had beer and bitches. That's cool but there was always way more going on. On June 18th, I'm going to perform at one of the largest music festivals on the east coast in my hometown and continue to do what I've been doing since 2007. Living the lifestyle I always wanted to live.

If you've ever been to a party at one of these addresses you owe me the favor of buying you and your boyfriend a ticket to see me perform in front of thousands of people at Fire Fly:

298 Trafalgar Drive Dover, DE
208 N. State Street Dover, DE
137 Hidden Creek Way Magnolia, DE

"On June 18th, Cypher Clique will become the first Delaware Hip-Hop act to ever perform at FireFly Music Fest in Dover, Delaware. This premiere music experience boasts of over 30,000 fans over a 4 day span. To celebrate this opportunity, Cypher Clique has decided to release a new project and short story entitled "Everyone Is Dangerous". This 9 track offering consists of production from the likes of D-Major, Tribe Beats, and Ali!. Head over to EveryoneIsDangerous.com and read the interactive novel that coincides with music from the project.

forever.

[History repeats itself and that's just how it goes

Same way that these rappers always bite each others flows
Same thing that my nigga Elvis did with Rock-n-Roll
Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore
While silly niggas argue over who gone snatch the crown
Look around my nigga white people have snatched the sound
This year I’ll prolly go to the awards dappered down

Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile...]

.....She asks me, "Why don't you ever claim me on social networks or let anyone know that we are talking?"

I already know what she assumes.  She thinks I keep my relationships hidden because I want the freedom to cheat, lie, and be dishonest.  Infidelity.  Assumptions couldn't be further from the truth...

A quiet relationship guarantees that it lasts as long as both partners stay interested.  There is no pressure from the outside.  But once we open up our love to parents, family, and friends, their own opinions about romance and passion corrupt the trust that we have started to build with each other.  You'll realize that random outsiders will start to create impossible expectations for us.

Winter Songs

;It's winter break but back in school she didn't learn much, she wants to drink,

but see, at home she doesn't work much...

******************************************************

                ***************************************************************

Let's start off with a couple facts:

- I think I'm the only one openly admitting that I don't want to be in a relationship right now
- we're too young to not think we're iconic
- Cypher Clique is considered the most impactful music conglomerate in Delaware because of its consistent performances and abundance of new material
- spanish women never get old
- You sat on Call of Duty for 3 years after high school and let life pass you by... then you joined the military thinking this would fix things, but after a 4 year stint saluting the flag and chasing white men around old dirt roads, you look down to find yourself on a plane back to the same place you grew up in to face the same problems you were facing when you first picked up that x-box controller...
- we haven't even gotten started yet...

[ if for some reason, the sound cloud media player does not open on your phone, follow this link to access the song:

Cypher Clique x Tribe Beats - Winter Songs (prod. Tribe Beats) by CypherClique https://soundcloud.com/cypherclique/cypher-clique-x-tribe-beats-winter-songs-prod-tribe-beats on #SoundCloud ]

baby, You Wintertime Cold...

Dover, Delaware we've been at it for a long time.  My whole life practically.  Remember how wild some of these winters have gotten? From all of the New Year's bangers, to birthday parties, to the Christmas day Mike and I spent with 6 different women in the same Pink House on 208 north state street...

Don't let this town ruin you..

[And if you're pillow talking with the women that are screwing you, just know that she gon tell another nigga when she through with you..]
--------------------------------------

Regardless of the genre, people are noticing that we're making some of the best music in Delaware right now.  And there's so much more coming.  There's duckets of new music, videos, tour dates, Cypher Clique clothing, events, and blog posts coming early next year but the song you're reading about now is different.  This is a Winter Song...

In the winter the city slows down.
Most of the people our age have been in school or working full time for the past few months.
In the winter, dance and day parties are replaced by bonfires and smoke sessions.
As complicated and messy as they get, relationships thrive in the wintertime where Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine's Day dominate everyone's Instagram news feed.
Every winter brings with it  new opportunities to stand out.
New opportunities to discover yourself.
New opportunities to takeover.

_________________________________________________________________________________

THE SUMMER'S OURS, THE WINTER TOO --

"top down in the winter, that's what winners do"...

*brah, Corey made the newspaper on Christmas.. who does that?

BIG shoutout to my big brother Corey Crawford -

set goals. chase dreams. don't give up. inspire others. be great. shit is easy.

the Cypher Clique and TRIBE.BEATS have collided (as they always do) to write, engineer, record, sing, mix, and create a beautiful song that Delaware can toast to during the winter.

Because the summer's mine...
